A grating is the loadbearing element that closes a drainage channel at the top. Usually, the component is made of ductile iron, galvanised steel, stainless steel or composite material. Integrated inlet openings of various designs allow surface water to drain into the channel. Gratings protect the channel from debris such as leaves, sand and stones. In addition, it protects pedestrians and vehicles against injury and damage when crossing the channel.
